Job Description

The Director, Compliance & Risk will have primary responsibility for ethics and compliance policies and procedures, including identifying regulatory and business requirements and any potential risks that may affect the reputation, safety, and security of the organization. This role is responsible for drafting and obtaining approval for policies; establishing and executing internal controls; and establishing procedures to promote compliance with those policies. Additionally, the Director, Compliance & Risk will be involved in setting policies and providing advice regarding international compliance issues including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Code of Conduct, sanctions, and export controls.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Compliance and Risk Leader well-versed in risk management, legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices. Personal attributes will demonstrate high ethical standards and work diligently to complete their duties keeping in mind the objectives of the business. Must be comfortable saying “no” when necessary and be result-oriented.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessment of ethics and compliance program, business continuity, crisis management, and enterprise/operational risk (with focus on ethics, corporate governance, information and security risk, regulatory and legal risk).
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
  • Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues.
  • Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies.
  • Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
  • Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities.
  • Discuss emerging compliance issues with management or employees.
  • Collaborate with human resources departments to ensure the implementation of consistent disciplinary action strategies in cases of compliance standard violations.
  • Advise internal management or business partners on the implementation or operation of compliance programs.
  • Provide employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures.
  • Monitor compliance systems to ensure their effectiveness.
  • Oversee internal reporting systems such as corporate compliance hotlines and inform employees about these systems.
  • Design or implement improvements in communication, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8+ years in Ethics, Compliance, and/or Risk Management role.
  • Experience in managing company’s insurance risk coverage is a highly preferred
  • BA/BS required, advance degree a plus; JD Law Degree preferred
  • Experience in contract negotiations, is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience as compliance and risk management leader
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance standards and regulations
  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping
  • Strong business and legal acumen
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning & organizational skills
  • An analytical mind able to understand the complexities of procedures and regulations
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
