Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Vice President Distribution, the Director of Corporate Transportation is responsible for setting and executing The Nature's Bounty Co.'s Transportation strategy, including leadership and direction of all transportation activities to achieve service, cost and quality goals.

This role owns creating the organizational design, culture and processes necessary to ensure alignment in meeting both internal and external customer transportation needs while improving processes that reduce losses associated with both domestic and international freight spend.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops a transportation strategy that reduces identified losses (zero loss journey) and establishes budget expectations for outbound, intracompany, and inbound freight.
  • Creates and develops a high performing team, driving colleague engagement and development with a passion for customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates effectively with cross functional stakeholders, pro-actively partnering to ensure that service and cost goals are delivered.
  • Understands the current freight landscape and has the ability to assess future trends.  
  • Develops and utilizes key performance measures as a component of the continuous improvement strategy, including gap analysis and action planning.
  • Conducts regular RFP events for all freight modes to ensure key transportation objectives are met.
  • Develops and implements a carrier performance measurement system that includes metrics and scorecarding.
  • Guides the activities of the Transportation Management System to ensure service and cost objectives are achieved and colleagues have the tools to succeed.
  • Ensures contracts and agreements with external business partners meet NB Co. objectives while minimizing exposure.
  • Ensures compliance to regulations impacting NB Co. transportation domestically and internationally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain related field required
  • 8+ years management experience in Transportation, Distribution or Supply Chain required
  • 3+ years experience in CPG distribution a plus
  • 8+ years experience in both domestic and international markets required
  • Strong leadership skills required
  • Military experience a plus
  • Ability to set strategy and accountability both internally and externally required
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and negotiate with transportation service providers required
  • Strong computer skills including systems and software applications required
  • Superior communication skills both oral and written required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Exhibit positive attitude regarding regarding work and responsibilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness during major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusting effectively to new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures
  • Continuously looking for ways to do things faster and better, while maintaining high quality standards
  • Is creative and intellectually curious; tries different and novel ways to solve problems
  • Physical Demands: stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, lift up to 15 lbs.
