Job Description

The Manufacturing Plant Manager is a critical role in our Supply Chain organization, providing a high level of responsibility, accountability, and visibility, by managing high quality production operations, the building of team capabilities and the creation and sustainment of a high performance culture (an engaged and enabled team).  Our plant in Leonia is focused on the manufacturing of tablets and capsules for our Solgar brand.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Formulation of plant strategy and annual goals and objectives for the plant that align to the Supply Chain direction
  • Accountability for performance of the plant, including safety, quality, cost, productivity, and customer service
  • Achievement of all Key Performance Indicators on the Plant Scorecard 
  • Lead and motivate a diverse team of 125+ associates across multiple shifts to achieve high levels of performance 
  • Drive overall quality and performance levels of the plant leadership team
  • Assess and develop talent, coach the team to work effectively
  • Foster a High-Performing System organization: provide coaching to plant leadership team, floor leaders, and operating floor associates on the principles of high performing work systems and hold all levels accountable for implementation and sustainability.
  • Creation, implementation, and improvement of Daily Management systems, including Safety, Centerline, Clean-Inspect-and-Lubricate, Total Productive Maintenance, Quality Defect Elimination, etc. 
  • Create an effective leadership team, one that has a high sense of urgency and a high level of cross-functional collaboration that drives results 
  • Create systems and processes that result in a high level of competence across all levels, encompassing both leadership and technical skills 
  • Build a culture that develops a high degree of ownership from all associates, an environment of trust and openness, and a culture that delivers consistently superior results 
  • Benchmark successful operations across the network and incorporate learning into the local plant operations 
  • Collaborate with other functions within Supply Chain and within the company to drive an effective business

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management level role in the CPG, consumer health, nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industries. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, i.e. Engineering, Supply Chain, from an accredited institution 
  • A substantial technical background, evidenced by academic credentials and professional experience. 
  • Superior working knowledge of TPM, OEE and Lean and the ability to utilize these tools to create and operate a high performing organization 
  • Experience designing and/or implementing a High-Performing System (HPS); a performance system focused on zero loss
  • Management experience at a “facility-wide” level for a medium sized facility or for a unit within a large sized facility 
  • The demonstrated ability to coordinate with relevant, ancillary support functions, such as Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, Production and Inventory Control, Scheduling, Human Resources, etc. 
  • Proven ability to build and implementation of a high performing culture 
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate a vision effectively and to enroll others in that vision 
  • Proven ability to build organizational capabilities 
  • Superior and proven people development skills 
  • Must demonstrate a good understanding of cGMP and appreciation for what are generally considered to be current best practices in the industry 
  • Advanced PC skills that encompass Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP applications required     
  • Military experience a plus
