Job Description

The VP, North American Finance, is a key member of the management team responsible for creating and driving financial planning, reporting, and analysis. This position will report to the CFO and act as a change agent to drive efficiencies in all processes and systems, leading a team across the FP&A function.  This role can be based at our office in Ronkonkoma, NY, or Florham Park, NJ.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Serve as a key member of the finance management team in developing and implementing business plans and evaluating various initiatives, including organic growth, new markets, efficiency / cost cutting, partnerships, M&A / integrations, and divestitures. 
  • Acts as a thought leader by providing analytical insight and support to the CEO, CFO and operating management.  Partner with company leaders to monitor and drive performance and to provide financial oversight.
  • Partner with the CFO and Accounting Team to oversee development of strategic planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure optimal utilization of financial resources.  Develop high quality financial analysis to provide context and insight to decision makers across the company.  Serve as a strategic lead in developing, implementing, and maintaining best-in-class information technology for finance.
  • Lead annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-term planning process across the Company, interfacing with senior management, sales, marketing, trade management, operations, divisional FP&A, and accounting teams
  • Develop and implement strategic plan for driving earnings optimization and process improvement throughout the organization to proactively improve efficiencies and reduce expenses over a multi-year timeframe.  Partner with senior management and division leaders to increase transparency, accountability, and active management of expenses.
  • Direct comprehensive financial, operational and business reporting to provide executive leadership with beneficial information to enable business decisions that drive performance.
  • Divisional financial reviews.
  • Provide strong leadership in the recruitment, training and development of top quality financial talent to ensure the finance organization has a high level of performance and productivity.  Continually cultivate finance and other functions to ensure cost effective achievement of goals and objectives.  Identify, track and report on key financial and non-financial performance metrics; work with the team to analyze trends and develop and implement changes to drive improvements
  • Lead and support value creation initiatives and special projects to drive change / transformation
  • Help standardize FP&A processes and bring best practices to the organization
  • Build and strengthens financial systems and process enhancements and drive improvements throughout the finance and accounting organization
  • Partner with Accounting and divisional FP&A team to ensure accurate reported results and forecasts and provide management with timely financial information for effective strategic decision making
  • Partner with operating teams to drive and monitor performance and develop strategic plans

Job Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive financial planning & analysis, and reporting experience with a demonstrated track record of success at Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies of appropriate scale and complexity
  • Direct experience in a finance leadership role with demonstrated expertise in GAAP accounting and finance analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering; MBA preferred
  • Experience leading annual budgeting, long-term financial planning processes and rolling forecasts
  • Experience implementing financial planning & analysis tools and processes, dashboards, and performance metrics
  • Experience with active management of the P&L, including driving efficiency, zero based budgeting, or earnings optimization initiatives
  • Experience with trade promotion management, manufacturing / distribution
  • General financial “athlete” – “player-coach” with strong financial acumen and detail orientation
  •  Demonstrated experience in leading and personally driving change and implementing best practices
  • Collaborative business partner with company leaders and divisional leaders, adept at building cross-functional relationships to drive business results and provide financial oversight
  •  A proven leader; known for the ability to develop, motivate and build strong financial teams that achieve superior levels of performance
  • Strong communication skills; able to convey a message that is clear and concise linking business issues, financial results and strategy
  • Experience with AS400, Oracle Accounting, Hyperion systems a plus
