Job Description  

The Architect, in conjunction with other stakeholders, manages the demand pipeline, builds a case for change, translates business requirements into specifications, then develops designs that conform to the specification. Once delivery is complete, the Architect builds strong relationships with operations teams to ensure any operational concerns are linked back to the future pipeline.

As a Microsoft Solutions Architect, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation and a passion for driving the business technology horizon forward. The Microsoft Solutions Architect will be responsible for the analysis, design, and implementation of Microsoft Solutions in a global enterprise environment. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate proficiency with the design, implementation and support of Microsoft solutions and exhibit strong project management and communication skills.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads strategy, best practices and architecture in the design, development and deployment of scalable and secure Microsoft solutions
  • Understand, document and support the underlying business processes, workflows, data and application platforms that depend on Microsoft platform services
  • Own the development of business cases for the segment, creating a compelling case for change
  • Management of stakeholders, setting expectations on delivery and scope
  • Manage the technology pipeline, aligning priorities and schedules with business expectations, resources and dependencies
  • Contribute to resource planning activities, providing detailed estimates for effort, platform and ongoing costs
  • Take ownership of issues, using sound judgement to propel issues to resolution
  • Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert on projects, overseeing the work of others and being accountable for the quality goals of the project
  • Design Microsoft and related technology solutions
  • Work with peers and SMEs to create complete solutions designs
  • Engage peers to review your project artefacts, incorporate feedback and refine outputs accordingly
  • Offer reviews of activities in both operations and the business
  • Develop and communicate task level detail for project plans
  • Develop architectural standards, blueprints, building blocks and patterns
  • Prepare budgetary recommendations as needed
  • Effectively coordinate and multi-task across various groups and functional teams both inside and outside of the organization
  • Mentor peers in proper vendor-certified techniques, methods, standards and processes
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication

Qualifications  
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, management disciplines, or related field
  • 5 years of systems design experience
  • 8+ years of experience in technical roles; working with service based solutions, designing and working with enterprise implementations
  • Candidates must have advanced understanding of the following: Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server products, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Group Policy, Microsoft Azure cloud services, Azure SSO, server/client model, clustering, SQL and life cycle management platforms
  • Hands-on design and implementation planning for Microsoft solutions including networking, security, governance and compliance solutions in Azure and Office 365
  • Experience deploying and managing digital certificates and certificate authority
  • Adapt and learn quickly; keeping pace with the rapid changes in the IT industry particularly in productivity, collaboration, and cloud
  • Proven problem analysis and critical thinking skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in pressure situations
  • Thorough knowledge of project management techniques and success factors
  • Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills. Able to manage the expectations of customers as well as influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience of creating high quality documentation and solution architecture artefacts
  • Should have advanced understanding of Microsoft client and management platforms including Windows 10, Sharepoint, Skype, Yammer, intune, WDS & WSUS
  • Core competencies for this position also include effective time management, problem solving, customer focus, a drive for results, the ability to communicate effectively, teamwork and organization skills
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE or similar), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), TOGAF 9 and/or ITIL v3 FOUNDATION preferred
