Job Description  

Reporting to the VP Latin America, the Director, Commercial LATAM, focused on Southern Cone and Andean, will be responsible for profitable business development and securing strong growth across the region by building Wholesale brands based on consumer and channel insights. The candidate will be driven to and capable of exceeding sales and profit targets by leading the regional focus on:

  • Distributor appointment, development and assessment (including replacement, when needed)
  • Distributor contract negotiation
  • Supporting marketing teams and distributors with key accounts & in market category sales initiatives

The individual will also be required to motivate and manage team sales support and local sales teams, working closely with marketing and customer support stakeholders across the business. In line with the significant growth and business development ambitions for the region the role will require input to and collaboration on specific business development projects as defined by senior executive teams. 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Profitable business development: Know the brands and understand/ identify business opportunities across the region through available consumer insights, working with local distributors and customers to develop extensive customer knowledge. Use experience and market knowledge to understand which opportunities are worth pursuing in each specific market and work jointly with the distributors and the Latin America and Caribbean NY team to prioritize efforts to maximize results. 
  • Distributor management: Follow metrics & objectives set and clearly communicate the same to Distributors for constant assessment and development. Add value by training and developing the Distributor teams on NBTY brands/products and drive sharing of best business practices. Replace under-performing Distributors on an ‘as needed’ basis.
  • Over achievement of sales and profit goals, jointly developed across the management team, by optimizing distributor relationships and capabilities and focusing teams on a strong growth ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Build collaborative and growth focused internal relationships: Build and maintain productive relationships with Latin America and Caribbean NY and London Teams (marketing, regulatory, supply chain, finance, etc.) and other NBTY business leaders in order to get guidance, support and cooperation for proactive and productive business development in the region.
  • Strong brand building: Optimize available brand/product portfolio and, with the support of Latin America and Caribbean NY marketing leads, develop a specific country/market approach to build our brands to become leaders in each market through consumer advertising, communication consistency, cost effective and visible trade marketing, grassroots events, strong distribution and support distributors in building confidence and support across the retail customer base. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: With regulatory, marketing & technical teams, act as liaison between our corporate regulatory team and distributor to comply with local regulation in order to acquire permits and registrations to sell our products in a productive and strategic way. Work with key teams to determine priority lines for local sourcing.
  • Follow pricing and margin strategies across the portfolio and customer base to minimize cross border discrepancies. 
  • Productive Distributor Communication: Build cordial, productive and trustworthy distributor relationships. Develop and maintain clear and open communication.
  • Set goals and follow results in conjunction with Miami, NY and London teams for distributor contracts and LOA’s. Manage all aspects of accounts with key internal teams; e.g. timely payment with credit teams.
  • Work effectively in prospecting new distributors to secure high potential business partners and achieve impactful in market launches, securing the development and strengthening of our brands in country/market.

Qualifications  

  • 10+ years of related industry experience in sales, business and brand development, trade marketing. 
  • Demonstrated success in building brand portfolios / new business successes.
  • Strong track record in commercial management, team management & leadership, ideally in with experience of building brands. 
  • International experience dealing with distributor network(s), and an understanding of countries in the region.
  • Established commercial contacts in the region, Pharma or VMHS industry experience a big plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in sales and marketing. MBA a plus.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication with superior presentation skills.
  • Strong experience in corresponding and communicating with all levels of management.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Experience in using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email, internet, etc. is also a must.
  • The position will be based in the Miami, Florida area.
  • Travel will be between 25% and 40% depending on the month.
