Job Description

The Director of Shopper Activation for The Nature’s Bounty Co. performs a valuable role in developing and implementing shopper insight based solutions, activations and programs for key retailers that will help deliver against Nature's Bounty and retailer strategies and goals.  This position is a fast-paced, customer and brand focused role that translates consumer/shopper insights, brand strategies, customer strategies into actionable solutions to drive sales.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with Sr. Director in partnering with Shopper Marketing Agency to develop and execute shopper solutions and driving thought leadership for our retailers.
  • Lead a team of Shopper Activation Managers, segmented by retailer/customer, to drive shopper insight based marketing solutions while working closely with Sales Teams and customers.
  • Work collaboratively with Shopper Activation team to share best practices, lessons learned and establish KPIs by retailer and channel, and develop a shopper scorecard to measure and track program metrics/KPIs.
  • Lead the development and execution of differentiated Shopper Marketing omni-channel programming grounded in brand, consumer, shopper and retailer insights inclusive of but not limited to the following retailer accounts: Target, HEB, Albertsons, etc. 
  • Manage and track Shopper Marketing work internally with Brand Marketing, Sales, Customer Strategy, Consumer/Shopper Insights, Category Development and Creative Team to align objectives across all key stakeholders and to help identify shopper insights that can be implemented at the account as well as across the organization.
  • Analyze pre/post performance/effectiveness metrics of shopper programs inclusive of ROI to drive profitable programs for NBCo.
  • Proactively influence brand investment and customer trade investment through KPIs, lessons learned, and profitable program executions as part of business planning.
  • Actively collaborate with Brand Teams, Customer Teams, Sales, Sales Strategy, Insights, Category Leadership, Finance and other functional leads to support Business Planning and Annual Brand Planning.
  • Lead with Brand Teams for new item launches, special initiatives and voice of the “customer” for developing shopper programs tied to these initiatives.
  • Liaise with Creative Team to help drive timely shopper retailer and national creative executions.
  • Liaise with Digital Team to drive cross functional partnership and break down silos that involve retailer digital executions.
  • Lead key aspects of consumer promotions activation including the management of national FSI and DFSI vendors/contracts and is the point of contact for all national FSI executions inclusive of market lists, vendor relationship, etc.
  • Partner with the Shopper Insights team to understand critical consumer/shopper insights and develop robust shopper marketing platforms at the account level.
  • Partner with Field Category Management Team to understand shopper loyalty card data and insights to drive actionable solutions to target key retailer shoppers.  
  • Responsible for managing all shopper execution vendors/contracts.
  • Responsible for consolidating and providing Field Sales of annual brand FSIs/DFSIs executions.
  • Support Sr. Director with thought leadership and creative executions tied to brand and corporate strategies for critical customer trade shows such as NACDS Annual, NACDS Total Store Expo, etc.

Job Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience within the CPG industry (related experience in Sales, Marketing (brand or customer), Shopper insights, Analytics, Brand Management, Consumer Promotions)
  • Experience managing a team of associates
  • Experience within the Vitamin or Diet/Nutrition categories a plus
  • Experience utilizing IRI or Nielsen syndicated and panel data
  • Experience utilizing key retailer shopper loyalty data such as Extracare, 84.51, etc.
  • Proven success at business building (strategy development, solutions leadership, thought leadership).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Advanced skills in leveraging loyalty card data to execute shopper insight based marketing programs
  • Microsoft Office (very strong Excel/PowerPoint), IRI, Customer and Syndicated Data. 
  • Ability to build relationships and senior level engagement
  • High level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Understand the value of listening to customers, gaining insights and moving objectives forward
  • Must be an articulate communicator who can quickly synthesize data
  • P&L management and strong financial acumen
  • BS/BA required; MBA preferred
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time as necessary
