Note: This is a 3rd Shift Opportunity. Hours are Sunday - Thursday, Overnights. 11:00pm - 7:30am. There is a shift differential for this role. 

The Lead Encapsulation Operator is responsible for assisting the supervisor on a daily basis while adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the department in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager
  • Operates encapsulation softgel machinery independently as well as within a team environment
  • Perform any job in the encapsulation softgel department to include operating an encapsulation soft gel machine, understanding production priorities, scheduling, and directing the team to accomplish a safe and productive shift
  • Troubleshoot and make tooling changes if needed
  • Loads and unloads fill and gelatin to the encapsulation softgel machine
  • Matches all labels with batch records
  • Documents encapsulation softgel process information as per SOP
  • Monitors encapsulation softgel operation periodically and report any abnormal conditions to the manager
  • Consistently reviews in-process batch documentation to ensure real-time compliance to product specifications, good documentation practices, company SOP’s and cGMP’s.
  • Ensures that deviation reports are generated if out-of-specifications are observed
  • Discusses errors directly with department personnel so corrections can be made if required
  • Personal responsibility for following safety rules, SOPs and cGMPs guidelines

Job Requirements

  • Experience in the food, pharmaceutical and or supplement industry preferred
  • Prior manufacturing environment setup mechanic experience required
  • Prior lead and machine operator experience in a manufacturing setting required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Military experience is a plus
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills required
  • High level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed
  • Ability to lead a team and meetings
  • Physical ability to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs, stand, climb, bend, etc within a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work with known allergens, i,e. (Fish oils and or other products derived from fish)
