Job Description

This Manager, International Corp Transportation is responsible for managing the international logistics program. This manager role will require subject matter expert knowledge to provide counsel and direction to personnel regarding international logistics, transportation, hazmat transportation compliance, documentation, and export/import trade compliance.  

Responsible for handling the technical details of international logistics—multiple modes, complex documentation, and varying customs regulations, developing distribution strategies, and building relationships with logistics intermediaries. Serves as a troubleshooter, finding solutions to problems inherent in moving freight long distances and holding inventory in multiple global locations by performing the following duties. 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recommend carrier base and negotiate rates for export/import air/ocean transportation.  Manage freight forwarders, carriers, and freight spend.
  • Oversee team's roles and responsibilities regarding global logistic transportation functions including bookings, documentation, export compliance (including AES), and corporate record keeping requirements and regulations for international transport to Nature's Bounty Co. subsidiaries.  Oversee compliance on Ex Works 'routed export transaction' shipments to customers from the CPGI group.  Manage special-situation exports from Marketing, Product Development, Engineering or other departments.
  • Manage Export Health Certificates, NOAA (fish oil), USDA (whey protein) & FDA/Aphis (phytosanitary).  Manage the issuance of Free Trade agreement certicaties of origin (e.g. NAFTA/KORUS/CAFTA/etc.) and determine correct tariff classification and origin. 
  • Act as subject matter expert in all international transportation modes, DOC BIS Export Administration Regulations, DOC Census Foreign Trade Regulations, HTS classification, TSA air cargo regulations, US Customs regulations, hazmat transportation regulations - 49CFR, IMDG, and IATA, denied party screening process, cargo insurance and claims handling, Incoterms 2020, UCP600 letter of credit.  Knowledge of global foreign country import regulations, the C-TPAT program, customs brokerage operations.  
  • Drive continuous improvement practices ensuring alignment with corporate and division/department master plan goals. 
  • Act as NBCo.'s expert 'TCA' -Trade Compliance Associate, with dotted line responsibility to the Trade Compliance Director and Trade Compliance Officer (General Counsel's office).
  • Lead, manage and develop staff associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, International Business or related field preferred
  • 8+ years experience managing international logistics for an international freight forwarder or CPG/food type industry accepted in lieu of degree
  • Hazardous materials training in 49CFR, IATA & IMDG transportation regulations preferred
  • Effective negotiating, decision making and analytical skills required
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and critical stakeholders required
  • Ability to interact and communicate with various countries and cultures required
  • Ability to interact with government agencies
