Job Description

The Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for managing supplier qualifications, periodic re-qualifications, performance and driving improvement by reducing non-conformances. Also coordinates activities between the company and suppliers to support new product launches, working with cross-functional teams, as well as suppliers, ensuring specifications, testing frequencies, and other requirements are communicated.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited:

  • Ensure suppliers stay in regulatory and other compliance resulting zero recall
  • Manage brand Items outsourcing project. (Items in house to outsource and transfers)
  • Qualify suppliers in accordance with The Nature’s Bounty Co.'s Supplier Qualification procedure
  • Conduct supplier risk assessment and audits covering QMS, HACCP and cGMP
  • Execute Quality Agreement 
  • Participate in new Product development initiatives, working very closely with project management, R&D, Technical Services, Nutritional & Label and supply chain groups
  • Coordinate multiple activities involved during new product launches such as supplier qualification, specification development, test method development, contract manufacturer first production runs, receiving and release of product. 
  • Review supplier batch records and then monitor at regular interval
  • Ensure applicable FDA 21 CFR Part 201, 211, 117,113,114 and 111 compliance
  • Communicate and ensure supplier quality management program is implemented by suppliers
  • Ensure shipment meet with specifications, shipping requirements and regulation
  • Manage timely lot release interacting with cross functions, Distribution Centers, follow up with suppliers
  • Lead supplier NCR process that help drive improvement. Review & manage deviation, OOS and investigation 
  • Perform supplier performance, quality rating, NCR data analysis, generate action items applying quality tools and techniques, work with suppliers to implement effective and sustainable CAPA
  • Ensure applicable customer requirements are met by supplier sites with adequate registration and 3rd party audits
  • Review consumer comments internal reports and ensure applicable steps taken to address supplier related issues to continually improve 
  • Guide and manage supplier compliance with new FSMA, applicable FSVP rules
  • Keep track of current FDA industry findings and trends
  • Pro-actively improve  supplier quality management program by developing procedures and instructions, staying ahead of regulations and customer expectations
  • Manage Supplier related Non-Conformances and Corrective Actions (SCARs) to ensure robust supplier investigations with effective CAPAs established

  • 7+ years of experience managing suppliers engaged in food, dietary supplements or pharmaceuticals products processing
  • Project Management skills including management of new product launches and innovation
  • Experience managing low acid food processing and aseptic filling a plus
  • Bachelor' Degree in food science or chemistry or microbiology or pharmacy or other closely related discipline; extensive experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Familiar with FDA 21 CFR Part 111 cGMP for Dietary Supplement regulations and FDA 21 CFR Part 117
  • Familiar and be able to implement ISO 19011 audit principles, procedures and techniques
  • HACCP certification, Lead Auditor certification a plus
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and able to multi task while meeting deadlines
  • Skills working with ERP systems, MS Office including Project, Visio and Access
  • Ability to implement quality tools and techniques to analyze data & trends, helping supplier high ratings and improve continually to be efficient
  • Quick learner, organized and self-starter taking full ownership of assigned tasks
  • Travel as business required, around 15%
  • Handle light weight managing samples
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish and shellfish)
