Job Description

The Plant Manager is accountable for the overall Distribution Center (DC) results. This role has responsibility for the performance of the DC, including safety, quality, cost, productivity, and customer service. Reporting directly to this role are the leaders of operations, safety, maintenance, and scheduling. Reporting indirectly, but key members of the Plant Management team, are the leaders of Quality and HR. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Directs all aspects of the DC processes, including safety, quality, cost, productivity, scheduling, and customer service
  • Develops DC strategy and annual goals and objectives for the Warehouse that align to the Supply Chain direction (OGSM – Objectives, Goals, Strategies, & Measures)
  • Achieves all Key Performance Indicators on the Warehouse Scorecard
  • Creates a safe, healthy and positive working environment for all associates working at this site
  • Establishes and maintains the highest quality standards for every W&D process, as well as for all finished product shipped to every customer
  • Establishes and maintains Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Shipping and Receiving operating areas
  • Meets customer delivery commitments on time, first time, every time
  • Operates the site in a highly productive, cost effective manner
  • Meets or exceeds all Scorecard measures of key performance indicators described above
  • Collaborates with other functions within Supply Chain and within the company to drive an effective business
  • Interfaces effectively with external suppliers, customers, etc.
  • Builds a high performing Warehouse Leadership Team that is aligned, energized, and has mastery across the supply chain
  • Provides personal, hands-on coaching of Leadership Team members, floor leaders, and operating floor associates in the principles of high performing work systems and hold all levels accountable for implementing and maintaining them
  • Creates an effective Leadership Team, one that has a high sense of urgency and a high level of cross-functional collaboration that drives results
  • Creates systems and processes that result in a high level of competence across all levels, encompassing both leadership and technical skills
  • Builds a culture that develops a high degree of ownership from all associates, an environment of trust and openness, and a culture that delivers consistently superior results

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of Warehouse and Distribution management experience
  • Experience at a “facility-wide” level for a medium sized facility, or a multi-departmental span of control within a much larger organization, reflecting responsibility for at least 100 associates across no less than two shifts
  • Strong coaching and development skills, including leveraging KPIs to evaluate a team's success at reaching targets and goals
  • A degree in Business Management or a similar Supply Chain technical discipline is a plus
  • Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, motivate, and develop successful teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes, as well as innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement
  • Strong change management experience
