This position is responsible for managing the corporate quality audit and training programs at NBTY. As a member of the Quality Excellence  group, this associate will provide leadership and guidance to the corporate internal audit team, champion the training program and have oversight of NBTY external audit programs. The position will have responsibility for managing and improving the audit and training programs to ensure NBTY is an industry leader in the areas of their responsibility, and is compliant with all applicable regulatory and customer requirements. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration and management of audit programs including CAPA and audit observation closure
  • Monitor, analyze, determine and report trends in complex data sets and determine an effective course of action to reach an agreed solution as well as objectively evaluate program requirements and prioritize actions to achieve them.  
  • Manage corporate quality training program
  • Write summary reports, create, review and approve action plans and implement tracking measures to verify effective completion. 
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation GMP training for NY campus
  • Facilitate and train associates in cGMPs, Root Cause Analysis and CAPA investigations as well as other cGMP topics. 
  • Conduct audits, train associates as required
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts as required
  • Monitor the overall compliance to company policies, SOPs and regulatory compliance for areas of responsibility. Identify and lead improvement opportunities
  • Support and manage efforts of audit/ training team
  • Ensure good document control practices for written and electronic systems. Includes electronic record verification, working with IT to validate electronic data systems for intended use where required as well as performing quality electronic system audits.
  • Develop Policies and corporate SOPs as required
  • Ability to apply statistical principles to evaluate and improve processes
  • Other duties may be assigned as required 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical, Food Science, Chemical Engineering or Science related field required
  • 5-7 years of in the food, pharmaceutical and or nutraceutical industry
  • Proven experience in implementing and/ or improving quality systems
  • Management experience, including strategic planning and project planning, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced lead auditor in HACCP and cGMP`s as per 21CFR part 110 and 111 or 210 and 211
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for supplements, including knowledge of CFR part 11, data integrity assurance and auditing of electronic data and systems
  • Familiar with requirements of ISO e.g. 22000 and 17025, HACCP etc.
  • Administration and management of audit programs including CAPA and audit observation closure
  • Knowledge of Experimental Design, ability to develop and analyze statistical data and use SPC packages e.g. Minitab/InfinityQS
  • Experience in quality audit program management and audit skills training, ASQ –CQA (certified quality auditor) or other
  • Should be experienced working with quality systems in both a manufacturing and corporate environment.
