Job Description  

The Nature's Bounty Co. is seeking a highly motivated, experienced scientific affairs professional with experience in driving  claims substantiations for a diverse category of Global dietary supplements.  The primary focus of this position is to translate clinical trials into claims in support of new product development efforts.

The Nature's Bounty Co. is a leader in the nutritional supplement industry, is a champion of sound science. As such, we are  looking for an  individual with solid academic credentials, ideally with 3 years’ experience in a dietary supplement company.  This candidate will function as a subject matter expert (SME) in a diverse range of nutritional benefit areas.

Responsibilitie include, but are not limited to:

  • Review scientific literature and assess validity for claims substantiations. Provide scientific understanding of ingredient functionality, claims, and safety. Develop product claims and claim substantiation reports.
  • Review safety information for ingredients and prepare safety files.
  • Help drive innovation pipeline in various nutritional benefit areas.
  • Work with relevant departments within the company including Product Development, Marketing, Consumer Insights, Product Vigilance, Regulatory and Legal to support the business.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders in specific areas of nutrition science.
  • Present scientific findings internally to cross-functional teams, including senior management, and externally to scientific peers.
  • Prepare and review documents, communications, and reports that effectively communicate benefits and advantages of products to customers and consumers.
  • Have a working understanding and keep up-to-date on the regulatory landscape and FDA/FTC guidelines as they pertain to the dietary supplement industry.
  • Interface with academic institutions and raw material suppliers, and review scientific information to bring scientifically sound next-generation ingredients with nutritional benefits to market.
  • Work with University and CRO partners to conceptualize, design and execute new clinical trials that will lead to new product formulations and new structure-function claims.
  • Attend scientific conferences to facilitate relationships and maintain subject matter expertise.

Qualifications  
  • 3+ years of Commercial experience in dietary supplement or similar industry preferred.
  • BS and MS degree in Nutrition Science, Natural Medicine, Life Sciences related to Human Biology/Physiology or similarly related filed.
  • Experience in designing, running and assessing clinical trials is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of nutrition principles and familiarity with nutrient functionality. 
  • Ability to critically analyze and synthesize complicated data and scientific information.
  •  Knowledge of nutritional claims substantiations in dietary supplements is a plus.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in the communication and presentation of complex scientific and medical data to diverse audiences.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues and on cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work independently on projects and history of timely tactical execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several projects simultaneously
