Participants of our 8th annual Summer Internship Program will work alongside industry professionals to gain hands-on knowledge within their given field of study and be able to take advantage of our structured program that includes a group project, networking events and lunch-n-learn seminars with our leadership team. Details:

  • The OPEX Intern function may support the Warehousing & Distribution network at any of the 3 wholesale sites:  Hazleton in Pennsylvania, Boca Raton (1297/3001) in Florida, and Sparks in Nevada.

    Primary responsibilities of this OPEX role are:

  • Support continuous improvement activities for Warehousing & Distribution (W&D) operations and other supply chain segments

  • Provide project execution of process improvement via hands-on application of standard engineering methods and practices

  • Develop and execute operational reporting systems

  • Support the deployment of the High Performance System (HPS)

  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Site or Region.

  • Analyze reports and identify resulting action plans to remediate missed targets or to sustain target levels. 

  • Develop enhancements to existing reporting tools and identify/deploy new reporting tools.

  • Apply established process improvement tools to solve problems and enhance warehousing and distribution operations.  These techniques include but are not limited to:

    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

    • Workplace organization (5S)

    • Loss Analysis

    • Value Stream Mapping (VSM)

    • Line balancing

    • Kaizen, and

    • Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Review productivity rate targets and apply analytical tools to determine whether to maintain or change current targets

  • Support preparation and analysis of a region wide End-to-End value stream map.

  • Understand locations of process waste, capacity constraints, and impediments to timely flow of materials and finished goods.

  • Develop solutions to support critical KPI’s such as throughput and fill rates.

  • Coach and support HPS teams to achieve target maturity levels and prepare to advance along the HPS journey.

  • Prepare justification for productivity or capacity enhancing capital projects.

  • Support network-wide initiatives and task teams to improve productivity targets, tracking capabilities,

Qualifications

  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Major within one of the following fields:
    • Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering
  • Analytical skills – to review/validate reports from various data sources.
  • Problem-solving skills – to draw logical conclusions after examining available information.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel – in depth formula creation as well as the ability to organize, filter, and compare data.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Communication skills - Both written and verbal, to communicate with Team members both within the D.C. and other functional areas of the company. 
  • Time Management skills/Organizational skills – the ability to handle multiple time sensitive projects simultaneously.
  • Time Study / Allowance creation
  • Physical ability to repetitively lift (up to 30 lbs), stand, bend, climb, etc. within an operations environment is required.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Exposed to various levels of traffic from material handling equipment
