Job Description

Consumer Science is a newly formed, product focused research team with the goal of embedding consumer insights, preference and appeal into the R&D innovation process.  The Specialist role is an essential function to the team and will support in the execution of sensory and consumer studies. 

  • Responsible for the administration and coordination of product evaluations for innovations, product development projects, shelf life testing, plant production transfer, etc.
  • Completes the study paperwork required to commission research agencies for external consumer studies 
  • Prepares study surveys and summarizes results under the supervision of the Consumer Scientist
  • Ensures that sensory and consumer study data is accurate, reliable, and properly documented
  • Schedules and administrates internal employee panel evaluations
  • Prepares samples for internal panel evaluation: receiving, labelling, plating, serving
  • Tracks internal panelist participation and compensation
  • Coordinates samples to ensure timely delivery at external research agencies (sample acquisition from study requester, prepares shipment, documentation and tracking)
  • Enters data into required systems and tabulates data as needed
Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field (ex: Science, Statistics, Psychology, Engineering, etc.) with 2+ years sensory lab experience in the consumer goods industry preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to multitask efficiently with changing priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn to use function specific applications (e.g. survey software, payment systems)
  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrates a curiosity and eagerness to learn
