Under the direction of the Stability Supervisor, the Stability Specialist is responsible for duties associated with company-wide stability program including sample management, initiating new stability studies, generating and maintaining stability documentation.  The Stability Specialist frequently interacts with the network laboratories to execute stability testing and share information.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages stability sampling
    • Logging in of new samples 
    • Storing samples in environment chambers and/or stability room
    • Coordinating monthly sample pull for testing and distribution of samples amongst the NB Quality Control network Laboratories
    • Utilizing iBuy to schedule testing of stability samples at external laboratories, where required.  Shipping of samples, and retrieval of test results
    • Communicating and reviewing the schedule of samples to be tested with the leadership team of each network laboratory based on each monthly pull
    • Following up with the manager and/or supervisors for the on-site (New York) Quality Control Laboratory with respect to on-time retrieval of test results
    • Informing the stability team of any potential, or demonstrated testing issues that will directly impact timely and accurate testing of monthly stability samples
    • Disposing of remaining samples when stability testing is completed, and the stability study is finalized
  • initiates new stability studies utilizing the SLIM application
    • Drafting of stability study protocols based on bulk product specifications
    • Reviewing study test forms (LWRs) for trending of results, and completeness
    • Identifying OOS/OOT test results and assisting with subsequent investigation follow up
    • Entering, verifying, and approving study test forms (LWRs)
  • Oversees documentation related to Stability Program
    • Creating study folders for each new sample received.

    • Generating test forms (LWRs) for the monthly sample pull

    • Retaining all original test forms (LWRs), along with any associated documentation in study folders, such as OOS/OOT investigations

    • archiving all completed study folders in accordance with the company's document retention SOP

  • Other duties may be assigned as required

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the food, nutraceutical an/d/or pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Experience or knowledge of a pharmaceutical or nutraceutical stability program is a significant plus
  • Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements is preferred
  • Familiar with GMP regulations for dietary supplements
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.  Experience within a manufacturing environment or other closely related discipline experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be proficient with PC programs, i.e. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • AS400 knowledge desirable
  • Ability to review and understand chemistry, microbiology terminology and documentation
  • Ability to work with cross-functional groups to implement improvements
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Will be going up and down a ladder to put samples away and retrieve samples
