Job Description  

The Senior Database Developer is responsible for designing, implementing/developing, testing and documenting and supporting The Nature’s Bounty Company’s database solutions.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops the system design specifications from the business requirements document.
  • Writes clean, commented, re-usable, and efficient code. Primarily on Microsoft SQL servers but other database technologies are in the environment.
  • SSIS packages and assisting application teams with end to end data flow and connectivity through web services.
  • Completes & documents unit & system testing and assist IT testing teams
  • Continuously review the current landscape and drive improvements in performance, reliability, stability, and code quality.
  • Maintains solid understanding of industry and market trends.
  • Articulates a vision leveraging emerging or other technology that will help propel the business forward.  Successfully executes the vision if approved to move forward.
  • Communicates with end users on business requirements and problem resolution.
  • Provides key inputs into the User Acceptance Testing (UAT), if necessary.
  • Meets all required compliance documentation and change management requirements.
  • Deals directly with business partners and vendors to scope and manage projects on their own.
  • Mentors and provides technical direction to other team members.
  • Performs analysis and makes recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.
  • Ability to lead difficult and complex work assignments.

Qualifications  
  • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server Development and Administration experience. SQL Server 2008 and later.
  • 5+ years managing a highly transactional e-commerce environment.
  • Experience with other DB technologies is beneficial. (Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL, DB2)
  • Exceptional knowledge of administrative areas of SQL Server including database clustering, security, logging, replication, etc.
  • Object oriented analysis/design/development
  • Strong experience with SSIS, ETL, ELT, TSQL and Stored Procedures
  • Proven ability to model data with various complexities and requirements
  • Exceptional knowledge of various tools to troubleshoot issues. SQL Server Profiler, Index Tuning, query executing plans, optimization, statistics etc.
  • Familiar with Source control, task management, bug tracking, build and deploy
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to Multi-Task
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to think logically and systematically
  • Strong Microsoft office suite knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Highly productive and performs well under pressure
  • Has sufficient working knowledge of several business domains: consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, financial, retail, etc.
  • Learns quickly and adapts easily to new challenges and technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field
