Job Description

Reporting directly to the General Manager, Sports & Active Nutrition, the Sr. Director of Customer Development is responsible for developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans to deliver against annual Plans and longer term growth objectives. Specific accountability will include hitting annual financial targets, building impactful relationships across multiple levels with customers and across Nature’s Bounty, and leading and developing direct reports..

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans and deliver Annual Customer Plan for Convenience and Health & Fitness channels with specific KPIs to drive profitable sales growth in accordance with corporate goals.  Own and hit/exceed annual Sales targets.
  • Develop and execute specific tactics to drive Brand and Category growth for Sports & Active Nutrition, as well as opportunities across the Vitamins portfolio.
  • Serve as main point of contact for external Broker partner, getting the most from the relationship and translating business strategy into specific tactics for the Convenience channel to increase Gross Sales, points of distribution, and branded share.
  • Develop and execute Joint Business Planning (JBP) with Broker and Key Accounts across Convenience and Health & Fitness channels; understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Stay up to date on category landscape and key trends impacting Wellness and Sports & Active.
  • Manage execution of everyday business across channels, including item setup, sales forecasting, maintenance, logistics and inventory management.
  • Maximize sales efficiency within Convenience channel as well as Health & Fitness Channel, key Distributors and customers.
  • Maintain, foster, and grow existing and new relationships at the executive level including Senior Divisional, Buyer and Senior Buyer.   
  • Manage Trade budget and monitor spending efficiency that focus on a strong ROI.
  • Monthly reporting, sales analytics and insights; understand go-to-market strategy and how to maximize sales efficiency.
  • P&L management within respective channels and account coverage.
  • Lead and develop team of direct reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Must have at least 10 years successful outside sales experience; Convenience, Health & Fitness channel and customer experience strongly preferred
  • Must have prior experience using syndicated data to determine customer needs and establish the most effective pricing and promotional activities that will increase sales and market share for the company and its customers
  • Knowledge regarding Project Management, and experience with setting up and managing projects in a complex, fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge regarding relationship management, experience and mindset to work with partners in building initiatives that deliver on goals
  • Prior category management processes and implementation experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • High level of organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed
  • Deep understanding of the assigned Channel(s) and how to develop demand creation plans
  • The ability to utilize creativity and push beyond the obvious, comfortable going into “unchartered” territory in setting out recommendations and goals
  • Problem solver with a solutions oriented mindset
  • Must be a dynamic leader who can push past obstacles and overcome objections 
  • Understand the value of listening to customers, gaining insights and moving objectives forward
  • Must be an articulate communicator who can quickly synthesize data
  • P&L management and strong financial acumen
  • Ability to negotiate with business partners
  • Bachelor’s degree required
