Job Description  

The Snr Category Development Manager performs a valuable role in building a strong partnership with The Nature's Bounty Co.’s key retailer by developing and implementing category solutions to deliver growth and solve for identified business opportunities. In addition, this position is responsible for leading the development and sharing of Category Management foundations, best practices and directives throughout our grocery channel broker network to ensure continuity of message and solution building within the channel. 

This is a customer facing role that must demonstrate leadership, the ability to influence others, a passion for the shopper and a drive to deliver desirable results. Success in this position will be driven by the demonstrated ability to not only build robust fact-based selling presentations but lead the strategic direction and presentation of insights with the customer, with a keen ear to customer objectives/concerns and the ability to solution quickly.

The Sr Category Development Manager will be our expert in category & shopper insights within their assigned territory.  He/she will lead the process for identification of customer specific opportunities and assist with any research needs, strategic initiatives, recommended category plan optimization and analysis on the account.

This position works with loyalty card data, customer specific POS, syndicated market data, AC Nielsen household panel data, & consumer/shopper research.  
 

  • Establish clear Category Management directives for assigned customers based on Industry Trends & Consumer Insights utilizing account specific sales data and various third party data sources to construct dynamic presentations that deliver category building solutions and growth driving initiatives.
  • This individual will be our expert for accessing internal knowledge and translating it into action plans through identifying opportunities in the assigned retailer and facilitating solution development with the Account team, Broker analyst and Broker Sales leads. 
  • Establish and deliver best-in-class merchandising guidelines and best practice recommendations to optimize the shopping experience and drive high customer satisfaction and conversion
  • Analytical foundations – Utilize existing corporate or develop standardized channel category review templates for use within the Grocery channel that, when populated, deliver a consistent analytical approach across key customers and ensures successful sell in of key growth initiatives.
  • Develop and employ standardized processes for SKU rationalization and new item projections utilizing available customer data to include loyalty insights that can be shared across the channel and with peer category leads.
     

Qualifications  

  • Minimum 7 Years of Consumer Packaged Goods, preferably FMCG. Industry Experience, primarily Category Management driven
  • Prior experience working with IRI/Nielsen syndicated, and panel data required
  • Experience working alongside national retailers building successful Category Management partnerships, preferably with SUPERVALU.
  • Prior experience working a manufacturer directly with account teams required.
  • This person must work well in a team environment and have a demonstrated ability to operate at all levels within an organization
  • Bachelor's degree required
