Job Description  

As a member of the Consumer Insights Team, the Senior Manager will be responsible for influencing the organization through their leadership and strong knowledge of the consumer. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of market research techniques and how to connect them to the business objectives. You are a proactive business partner as a category expert, delivering the “so what” from our consumer learning.  This is a great opportunity to leverage your strong voice and POV to advocate for our consumers and effectively influence decisions. 

The Sr. Manager, Consumer Insights will oversee category insight planning and recommendations, strategic positioning and innovation. This role required  strong Consumer Insight background tied to business results with a passion for brands.  This is an ideal  opportunity to build strong partnerships with brand teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for overseeing consumer learning across a variety of sources to tell the story and influence the decisions made as result of their experience and partnership.  Designs research projects against business objectives and to answer key questions asked.
  • Be an advocate for the consumer by integrating consumer knowledge into all decision making by having a POV that they are willing to champion and express to their team.
  • Build strong internal and external relationships; collaborating with other members of the Consumer Insights team as well as other key functions such as Brand Marketing, Sales, Category Management, Digital Marketing, Product Development and our agency partners.
  • Manage category budgets: opening PO’s, overseeing accruals and timely payment with finance;  challenging and prioritizing allocation to best meet the needs for the brand/franchise.


Qualifications  

  • A minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in consumer research, market and/or category analysis is required.  Consumer packaged goods experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of market research methods and trends based work including a demonstrated ability to translate information and data into a compelling story with actionable insights and recommendations that impact business decisions.
  • Experience in a people-leader role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of categories, brands and portfolios. 
  • Strategic thinking including capabilities to assess current situation, draw conclusions and envision future business opportunities. 
  • Strong business partner that can influence cross functional teams and management.  Motivated by success of their brands.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus.                                              
  • Strong knowledge of consumer insights across a broad array of methodologies with demonstrated ability to translate research findings, information and data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize multiple projects across multiple brand teams.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and is not afraid to express a clear pov across all levels of the organization. Able to tackle difficult conversations so that the result positively impacts the business decisions.
  • Strategic thinking and forward looking.  Ability to assess current situation, draw appropriate conclusions from multiple data sources and envision future business opportunities. Identify business influencing trends and implications for their category.
