Job Description

The Sr. Planner provides overall direction for planned production, forecast inventory and plans short/long-term capacity and is responsible for managing master production schedules for outside Bulk manufacturing and/or Finished Good packaging to support sales demand forecasts, working closely with vendors to achieve optimal results.  This role includes functioning as a lead for the Planning team, going beyond day to day planning responsibilities to active participation in continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity of the Planning team, support area (IBP, Mfg., Pkg., W&H) projects and drive to overall Nature’s Bounty inventory and customer service targets.

  • Provide support for Planners, Buyers on the team, addressing technical, training or processes.
  • Support SC Strategies , annual goals and key KPIs (On time launches, CSL, inventory)
  • Collaborate, partner & coordinate as needed with component suppliers, and various internal teams to ensure product availability, such as Procurement, Planning and Inventory, QA, Logistics, and Brand to develop/adjust required inputs for detailed production planning at suppliers.  
  • Understand future capacity/supply constraints (manufacturing, raw materials, packaging) affecting production by engaging stakeholders throughout the planning process, and lead the development of recovery plans.
  • Advise the Commercial/Internal teams on any shortages/excesses of inventory levels and the appropriate action required with timing.
  • Create and maintain vendor/customer production requirements using the Oracle planning systems to ensure sufficient inventory levels and on-time customer delivery in full.
  • Lead presentations/discussions to varying audiences regarding team initiatives, training, issue resolution, etc.
  • Support cost reduction through effective and efficient capacity utilization as continuous improvement efforts.
  • Gain consensus from upstream and downstream functions on pipeline fills, customer events, or seasonal products to ensure production plans are executable and aligned with demand.
  • Utilize materials lead-times and regularly coordinate key material deliveries from outside vendors to ensure a timely start to the production process
  • Provide senior management with timely updates each week at designated meetings on all critical issues impacting the business unit
  • Issue and track purchase order and related work orders for the department through efficient planning and flexible scheduling
  • Interface with suppliers to insure on time delivery
  • Responsible for reconciling the variances of physical count against the perpetual records at vendor locations.
  • Schedule delivery with the proper priority according to production schedule and inventory.
  • Notify supervisor and other appropriate individuals of issues affecting production workflow through the assigned department
  • Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree as the minimum required
  • APICS Certification preferred.  
  • 4 to 6 years of supply chain planning experience, inclusive of material requirements purchasing, planning and scheduling or of relevant industry experience with consumer packaged goods and consumer products.
  • Understanding of manufacturing resource planning and material requirements planning is preferred
  • Quantitative, analytical and problem solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with planning tools (i.e. JDA, Oracle, SAP, Etc.).
  • In depth knowledge of MS Excel is required; including knowledge of formulas & AS400 preferred.
  • Supply Chain experience 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
