Job Description  

The Vice President of Global Accounting and Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a key member of the Finance leadership team who leads the global accounting function responsible for creating and driving accounting processes, policies, controls, and reporting that ensures all controllership objectives are met in support of the company’s business objectives.  In addition, this position will oversee the Corporate FP&A function responsible for creating and driving financial planning, reporting and analysis.  This VP will report to the CFO and act as a change agent driving efficiencies in all processes, while leading the accounting, controller & treasury, compliance, and Corporate financial reporting teams.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a key member of the finance management team in developing and implementing business plans, including organic growth, new markets, efficiency/cost cutting, partnerships, M&A /integrations, and divestures.  
  • Acts as a thought leader by providing analytical insight and perspective to the CEO, CFO and operating management.  
  • Partner in a collaborative way with company leaders to monitor and drive performance and to provide financial oversight.
  • Partner with the CFO, Global Accounting and Corporate FP&A to oversee development of strategic planning budgets and reporting to ensure optimal utilization of financial resources.
  • Develop high quality financial analysis to provide context and insight to decision makers across the company.  
  • Develop and implement strategic plan for driving earnings optimization and process improvement throughout the organization to proactively improve efficiencies and reduce expenses over a multi-year timeframe.  
  • Partner with senior management and division leaders to increase transparency, accountability, and active management of expenses.
  • Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including analysis of performance, variance and cash flow to the strictest standards of accounting and the law.
  • Ensure the fiscal integrity of the company’s business through the enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls.  
  • Monitor controls and ensure a strong control environment.
  • Builds and strengthens financial systems and process enhancements and drive improvements throughout the accounting organization.
  • Oversees all general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, tax and fixed asset activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions and compliance with internal policies.
  • Manage all monthly, quarterly and year-end closings including year-end audit and the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Technical accounting, including revenue recognition, implementation of new standards and compliance with all relevant existing standards.
  • Oversee cash management activities in conjunction with Controller and Treasurer.
  • Identify, track and report on key financial and non-financial performance metrics; work with the team to analyze trends and develop/implement changes to drive improvements.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning process across the Company, interfacing with senior management, sales, marketing, trade management, operations, divisional FP&A, and accounting teams.
  • Direct comprehensive financial, operational and business reporting to provide executive leadership with beneficial information to enable business decisions that drive performance.
  • Help standardize FP&A processes and bring best practices to the organization.
  • Partner with Accounting and divisional FP&A team to ensure accurate reported results and forecasts and provide management with timely financial information for effective strategic decision making.

Qualifications  
  • 10-15 years of progressive accounting and financial planning, analysis and reporting experience with a demonstrated track record of success at Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies of appropriate scale and complexity
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams, inclusive of a track record of developing talent and succession planning 
  • Experience with trade promotion management, manufacturing/distribution, treasury, and tax
  • Expert level knowledge in accounting rules and regulations and in the application of those rules and regulations to a wide range of business activities; GAAP accounting and finance analysis
  • Experience leading annual budgeting and long-term financial planning processes; implementing financial planning and analysis tools and processes, dashboards, and performance metrics; active management of the P&L, including driving efficiency, zero based budgeting, or earnings optimization initiatives
  • General financial “athlete” – “player-coach” with strong financial acumen and detail orientation
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and personally driving change and implementing best practices
  • A proven leader; known for the ability to develop, motivate and build strong financial teams that achieve superior levels of performance
  • Strong communication skills; able to convey a message that is clear and concise linking business issues, financial results and strategy
  • Collaborative business partner with company and divisional leaders, adept at building cross-functional relationships to drive business results and provide financial oversight
  • Experience with AS400, Oracle Accounting systems a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
